With close partnership with this department we can better focus our games to the difficulties experienced by patients in the field.

Entertainment Arts & Engineering is the overarching term we use to describe the interdisciplinary work between the College of Engineering and the College of Fine Arts. This work encompasses the wide array of fields in video game design and development, and students from both colleges work closely together throughout their academic careers. This partnership between disciplines reflects the current state of the interactive entertainment business world, and our students leave the program prepared to work effectively in a team environment.

This is what makes Entertainment Arts & Engineering at the University of Utah the #1 game design program in the country.

The EAE program strives to prepare students for work in the industry, supporting new applications to emerging technologies. Which is why we have been so interested in emerging technologies in VR/AR. We believe we can make a big impact.

Thrive seeks to add a fun twist to the traditions of physical therapy. Looking ahead at emerging technologies we see a great opportunity to help patients in new & innovative ways in AR/VR. The applications for Parkinsons and stroke treatment through virtual play. The key idea is that we can engage patients for longer productive sessions. Whether their struggles be through pain or exhaustion the fun will always be a great motivator.

Our mission is to bring an affordable variant of physical therapy to the masses and not keep it locked away in some research lab somewhere.

"We want to bring PT to the living room"

Our mission

Upon entering our game, you are greeted with a small Daruma doll with unpainted eyes. We found it fitting to choose this Japanese wishing doll as our mascot in order to play off the notion of goals. Daruma will challenge you in a collection of minigames that promote PT range of motions.

The tradition with these dolls goes as follows.

      1) Focus on a goal then paint one eye

      2) Work hard and keep the doll visible in your room

      3) Once you achieve your goal finish your Daruma!

Finishing this dolls signifes the completion of your goal, which to us is fantastic!
